A drunken policeman killed his colleague and wounded another in a random shooting in Khor Romula, Juba, yesterday.

This lead to exchange of gunfire, causing panic among the residents of the area.

The Police Commissioner in Central Equatoria State, Major General Saed Shaul says the gunman was arrested after forces were sent to the area to pursue him.

“We have our force there and one of them was drunk; he took his gun and shot dead one of his colleagues and wounded one – shot in the leg,” Maj-Gen Shaul explained.

“Our force composed of Military Intelligence and the police when to the ground and have contained the situation.”

Maj-Gen Saed says the situation in the area is now calm. It’s still not clear why the unnamed police officer shot his colleagues.

“The investigation process will continue to see how this problem happened, and people should not fear.”
