The spokesperson of Dr Riek Machar is under the custody of the police Nairobi, an official has said.

The motive of the detention is unclear. However, it comes after Mr Gatdet welcomed the sacking of Kenyan force commander of UNMISS.

“We hope that a new Force Commander will be appointed soon who will be more responsive and take actions to protect the civilians at risk in exercising their mandate,” partly read a statement he shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

Lam Chuol Joak, Dr Riek’s emissary to Kenya, says confirmed the arrest.

“He is detained, and now he is in police custody at the airport,” Mr Joak said.

Kenyan government officials are yet to comment on the reported arrest.

But the deputy military spokesman for forces loyal to Riek Machar said there was a possibility that Mr Gadet would be deported to Juba.

In a statement, Dickson Gatluak said it would be better if the spokesman of their chairman was deported to Pagak.
