The national Deputy Speaker is urging the unity government to prioritize the resolution of persistent conflicts related to tribal and border disputes including that between Ngok dinka and Twic.

Oyet Nathaniel says disputes on tribal boundaries are almost everywhere in South Sudan.

Nathaniel says that the Abyei scenario is now a hot issue that shifting its dimension from the external boundary tension to the internal boundary disputes.

“What is now arising is the internal boundaries, which means the question in Abyei now is taking another different dimension; the external boundaries are still outstanding, and the internal boundaries are now the hot issue.

Nathaniel suggests that elders from both communities should intervene in the resolution of the deadly conflict.

He also emphasized the need to address conflicts arising from border issues in other parts of the country.

“Am emphasizing this so that the government focuses on the resolution of the conflicts and disputes between the Ngok and Twic Dinka. …we have almost everywhere in South Sudan,” he said.

He made these remarks during a reception for the body of the late colleague MP Arop Madut in Juba over the weekend.
