A member of the Central Equatoria Legislative Assembly says the rehabilitation of Yei-Lasu road will help the government deliver services.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Roads and Bridges and Kirinyaga Construction Company signed a contract for the construction of the road.

Honorable Daniel Lokoroto, who had just arrived from Lasu Payam, said apart from the issue of roads, they are having challenges in education and health facilities because most of these facilities were made of local materials.

“Most of the pupils are studying under trees,” said Mr Lokoroto, “even the health sector; you find that the facilities specially in Libogo , Nyori and in Mitika, most of them are grass-thatched which I think is not conducive  as far as standards are concerned.”

“So we are sure that the rehabilitation of this road is going to help our government to move into the area easily to be able to understand some of the challenges the people are facing there.”

He added that a lot of foods grown in the area go bad due to lack of transport.

“So, I think it is going to help, especially the farmers, to transport their food easily.”

Hon Daniel urged Kirinyaga Construction Company to do the work to the highest standards.
