Author : | Published: May 30, 2014

At least one person has died of cholera infection in Yei River County, Central Equatoria, a health official has said.

The County Disease Surveillance department said 3 people suspected to have been infected by the disease have been admitted in Yei hospital.

A medical officer in Yei, Michael Lugala, said these are the first cases recorded in the County.

“The information that we got is that the person who died came to Yei from Juba on Monday,” said Mr Lugala. “Unfortunately, he developed these complications and he passed away.”

Mr. Lugala said that the Yei hospital does not have enough drugs to respond to cholera outbreak in the County.
