The Central Equatoria State Government has directed all mining operators, explorers, and traders to register with the State Mining Authority within this month.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Information said the registration exercise will run from July 6 to July 24, 2026.

The ministry said the move is aimed at promoting lawful, transparent, and responsible mining practices, while protecting the rights and safety of workers and host communities.

“This registration is a crucial step to promote lawful, transparent, and responsible mining, protect the rights and safety of workers and host communities, also to curb the ongoing illegal mining within Central Equatoria State and ensure that the state benefits from mining activities through improved accountability and revenue collection to improve service delivery through mining revenue,” the statement said.

The government said the registration will also help improve oversight of mining activities, strengthen revenue collection, and ensure communities benefit from resources extracted in the state.

Authorities have urged all mining stakeholders to comply with the directive within the given timeframe, warning that failure to register may attract penalties.

The directive follows the establishment of the Central Equatoria State Mining Authority in April this year by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony to assess and regulate mining activities across the state.
