In Northern Liech State, the minister of health says the Bentiu Hospital has received 12,000 liters of fuel from the UN children agency for the Expanded Immunization Program.
Dr Wicgao Phiny says Bentiu was facing a fuel shortage that makes it difficult for the hospital to operate normally.
He told Eye Radio that there will be a power supply at the hospital now for 16 hours daily so that immunization programs will continue smoothly.
“We don’t expect that fuel to finish [quickly] but if it happens, our government will take up the role,” Dr Phiny said.
However, the health officer for UNICEF in Bentiu, Christopher Otti, has confirmed that the agency will continue supplying the hospital with fuel monthly.
