The government of Jonglei State has condemned the looting of a humanitarian convoy leaving Bor town to the Pibor Administrative Area on Wednesday evening.

In a press statement, Jonglei State Information Minister John Samuel Manyuon said the looting occurred after the lorry transporting relief food broke down between Bor and Anyidi town.

The driver had left for Bor to get some mechanical help when some unidentified people looted the WFP vehicle.

The amount of food looted is undetermined, but the press release said 38 bags were recovered in the nearby bushes and were handed to the World Food Program.

The state government condemned the incident and promised to provide secure movement to humanitarian workers.

WFP is yet to comment on the matter.
