The Minister of Public Service and Human Resource Development has called for the reinstatement of unlawfully dismissed civil servants in the states.

Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro says his ministry received thousands of reports of unlawful dismissal, suspension, and promotion of civil servants from the states.

Bakosoro has accused state authorities of violating the civil service 2011 Act which protects the rights of government employees at all levels.

He says those unlawfully recruited should be dismissed, and the ones who unfairly lost their jobs be reinstated.

“They are not appointed according to public service regulation; they need to be dismissed unless a certain procedure was applied according to public service regulation,” Bakosoro said.

“You don’t just appoint. The appointment must be through a committee or through a proper procedure of hiring. You don’t dismiss anybody and then hire anybody in civil service and if it happens, it is illegal and whatever is illegal, must be abandoned”.
