Ayii University on Tuesday marked a defining moment in its institutional journey, celebrating its official transition from an institute to a fully accredited university by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
The milestone, hailed as a major contribution to South Sudan’s growing academic landscape, was commemorated during a colorful ceremony held at the university grounds.
The upgrade, approved earlier this month, affirms Ayii University’s expanding academic capacity, its growing student population, and its proven commitment to producing highly skilled graduates who can contribute to national development.
With this elevation, the institution now stands among South Sudan’s recognized centers of higher learning empowered to offer a broader range of degree programs, expand its research scope, and strengthen community outreach.
Speaking at the occasion, the University Administration described the achievement as a “dream finally realized,” stating that the transition reflects years of investment, dedication, and adherence to academic excellence.
“Today, we celebrate not just a change in status, but a new chapter of possibilities, one where Ayii University becomes an engine of innovation, knowledge, and transformation,” said Dr. Ayii Isaac Ayii, the Chancellor of the University.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Madut Bair Yel, praised the institution for meeting the rigorous requirements for university accreditation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting educational infrastructure and nurturing homegrown talent.
He emphasized that Ayii University’s elevation is part of a broader national agenda to expand access to quality higher education across the country.
During the event, students, faculty members, community leaders, partners, sponsors, and invited guests expressed pride in witnessing the institution’s growth. Many described the moment as a symbol of hope for young people seeking quality education closer to home.
As it moves into this new era, Ayii University announced plans to introduce new academic programs, upgrade facilities, strengthen digital learning systems, and pursue partnerships with regional and international institutions.
The administration reiterated its commitment to fostering a learning environment that empowers students to succeed in an increasingly knowledge-driven world.
Today’s celebration signaled more than an institutional achievement, it marked the rise of a new academic force dedicated to shaping South Sudan’s future through education, research, and service to the community.
