“ ….that is very much unlike what other people are saying out there that Arusha is dead, Arusha is thrown away. Arusha is not dead.” Anne Itto said.

The acting secretary general of the SPLM, Anne Itto, says party chairman Salva Kiir, has instructed the government side to the peace talks to peace talks to implement the Arusha Agreement.

The SPLM in Opposition, former political detainees, and the SPLM in government signed the agreement in January to reunite the party.

The spokesman of the government delegation to the peace talks in Addis Ababa, Michael Makuei Lueth, said yesterday that the parties will not consider the Arusha Agreement in their negotiations.

But Anne Itto says the Arusha Agreement is the priority for the party.

She said: “Arusha is our priority now. Arusha is right in front of us because our chairman has given the directive for us to begin moving and begin acting.”

The three SPLM factions are negotiating a peaceful end to the conflict in Addis Ababa.
