More than 200 inmates and jail officers have successfully completed 9-month training on technical skills at the Juba Central Prison Vocational Center.
The beneficiaries, including 22 female inmates, were offered skills on various careers.
These include; carpentry, masonry, electrician, welding, and vehicle mechanics. Others specialized in the fields of agriculture, hairdressing, and tailoring.
While they will graduate next week, there are currently more than 140 including 8 female inmates undergoing similar training.
The initiative was supported by the United Nations Development Agency-UNDP, in collaboration with the South Sudan National Police Service, with funding from the Kingdom of Netherlands.
The vocational center aims at rehabilitating inmates to enable them earn a living and contribute to the society when released.
