Three young men were shot dead, and a woman wounded on Saturday in a road ambush by unidentified gunmen in Budi County of Easter Equatoria State, an eyewitness said.
Susan Pasquale who survived the attack said the incident occurred at Camp 15 along the Budi-Torit Road.
Ms. Susan, who is the Executive Director of Women Advancement Organization, said the gunmen first opened fire on a commercial truck ahead of their vehicle.
Susan told Eye Radio that when they reached the scene of ambush, they found three dead bodies of young men who were travelling on a motorcycle.
She said they managed to escape from the attackers after some soldiers who were escorting a truck carrying cattle to Juba arrived at the place and opened fired to deter the bandits.
“We just escaped narrowly. They were targeting the driver of the truck that was ahead of us and then they managed to shoot the woman who her leg got broken,” Susan narrated, adding that the driver survived.
“When we reach to place, the three guys boys who were on the bike, were shot dead. We found the bodies down there, and thanks God that we were following a truck carrying animal to juba with some soldiers on top of the track then immediately they started shooting at the guys that how we manage to escape the place.”
Eastern Equatoria State government is yet to comment on the matter.
