The Director of Lirya Payam of Juba County in Central Equatoria State said on Tuesday three children have been abducted from Langabu Boma by unidentified armed men.

The abducted children are identified as 4-year-old Isaac Elia, 6-year-olds Sunday Edward Wani and Okanyi Edward Wani.

Christopher Sebit said a mother of the two children was also attacked at home and left wounded.

She is currently receiving treatment at the Payam hospital, says Sebit.

“The abductors came and abducted three children, two children of one person and another one of a different person they are Sunday Edward Wani aged 6 years old, Okanyi Edward Wani, 6 years old and Isaac Elia 4 years,” he narrated to Eye Radio.

“The mother of Sunday Edward the only female abducted is called Mary Ladu 38 years that one was seriously injured on the head they cut the head with the Machete.”

“They come to the house, and they found this woman in the house with the children, so some attacked her, and others carried the children away.”

Mr. Sebit said efforts by security forces to recover the abducted children have been futile.

“Well they are attempts, we have the youth known as the community peace keepers and police though, they are very few and we have the national security of the government they are here so they are trying to make effort to peruse the abductors.”

“And probably recover the children but it appears the efforts seems to be going in vain because as am talking now these children have not been recovered and the abductors are nowhere to be seen.”

In 2017, the Local Government Administrator, revealed that at least 115 children have been abducted from Lirya, Lokiliri and Lowoi areas of Jubek State between 1989 and 2017.

The research also revealed that at least thirty-six people were killed by abductors as they attempted to kidnap children.

Sebit’s study had focused on the Impact of Child Abduction on Behavioral Attitude, Resilience, Security and Economy at Lulubo and Lokoya areas of Jubek State.
