A 19-year-old man was killed on Wednesday in a gang related fighting at the Internally Displaced Persons Camp along Juba-Yei Road, the police said.

National Police Spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin said the teenager was allegedly beaten to death at mid-day by four gang members.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) at around 12 pm, a 19-year-old boy was beaten and died on spot by four persons at Jebel POC we were called, and we managed to arrest the suspects and now we opened a case, and an investigation is going,” he said.

General Justin said the suspected culprits aged between 17 and 19 were arrested the same day.

The police official said due to increased crimes at the IDPs camp, the police are considering having presence inside the camp.

“These days of course, since last year, the POC is not under the UN protection. It is under us, and we are actually working very hard to see that the police force is inside the POC.”

“A lot of crimes and criminal activities are taking place in the POC our plan is to be inside.”

Police said the cause of the fighting is yet to be determined.
