Rizik Zacharia: Lol faces shortage of goods

Author : | Published: Thursday, September 29, 2016

The Governor of Lol says there is shortage of goods in the state because most of the roads are impassable due heavy rains.

Rizik Zacharia Hassan says the roads from Gok Machar, Nyamlil and Raja have not been repair for a long time and have now become muddy and difficult to drive through.

Mr Rizik told Eye Radio that it is hard to supply the states with food items such as beans, rice and sugar.

“Most of the roads in the state are seasonal if it’s on level of Raja the State headquarter or Gok Machar and Nyamlil. All the roads in those three areas are seasonal and we depend on goods which are being smuggled to the state, and the life is very difficult,” Mr Rizik said.

“There is scarcity in manufactured goods. But in Agricultural products there a lot of work being done on the state level but it did not reached good level and if we focus more in Raja the security situation has affected the farming activities, and in Awiel North and Aweil West the farming is going on well,” he explained.

Mr. Rizik says they did not include in their plan this year the tractors donated by the President because the state received its share after the harvest season.

This indicates that the tractors have not improved local food production in the state so far.
