Police blame criminals for overnight Juba shooting

The National Police Service says it exchanged gunfire last night with suspected criminals in Thongpiny suburb, just behind the ministerial complex.

Heavy gunshots could be heard in the area.

Brigadier Daniel Justin says some criminals tried to enter a hotel near Dr. John Grarang International School.
He said no one has been arrested; they are still chasing the suspects.

“What happened; there were clashes last night between the forces which were working at night with some criminals in Thongpiny, near Dr. John Garang School, to dawn. It’s started from 10: up to around 11:00 at night,” the police spokesman said.

“They were trying to chase those criminals and today we went to the place of incident and the investigation is still going on. Up to know we have not identified them yet, and they were trying to loot a place in that area,” he explained.

Besides this incident, Brigadier Daniel says the situation in Juba town is clam.
