The Commissioner of Rokon County in Jubek state says he survived an ambush by gunmen along the Juba- Rokon road this morning.

Simon Mozee Noel says the attack took place in Nyameni village, about 15 miles from Juba.

Mr Mozi says he was in a convoy of two vehicles, with the second carrying 15 security personnel.

He told Eye Radio that the gunmen shot at the vehicle in which he was travelling with his bodyguard.

“I just took off this morning from Juba going back to my station Rokon, but it is very unfortunate that when I arrived at place called Nyamani we were attacked,” he said.

“The attack was very heavy and even my vehicle, some of its part are damaged and my runner is injured…The first person who start shooting us using RPG machine he was wearing uniform a green uniform.”

This week, the governor of Jubek, Agustino Jaddalla, asked commissioners whose counties are stable in terms of security to return to their headquarters.
