A young man was ambushed and killed by an armed attacker in Lakes state capital, near Rumbek on Saturday.

The 19-year old was hitch-hiking with his wife when the attacker emerged from a bush and shot him.

He died instantly.

The state authorities say the young man was a victim of revenge attack which is common in the state. It’s clear what exactly caused the alleged retaliation.

According to the state caretaker Governor, Matur Chut, the wife says she knows the man who killed her husband.

Mr. Chut is urging the unnamed attacker to surrender himself to the police.
