Four more suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of the medical director of Yambio civil hospital last month, the Gbudwe deputy police commissioner has said.

Last month, Dr. Ismail Mohammed was shot dead at his house in Yambio.

He said the attackers opened fire through the window of the house the doctor and his family were sleeping in. The motive of the killing is unclear.

Dr. Mohammed died on the spot, while his wife sustained injuries to the arm.  A few days later, the state police detained two suspects.

The accused will be arraigned in court when judges resume work, Brigadier Hassan Grish said to Eye Radio.

“The investigator managed to collect some evidences and he can now present it in court. We are just waiting for judges to resume work,” he said.

Identities of the suspects have not been publicized.

Dr. Mohammed was among doctors deployed to Yambio Civil Hospital ahead of independence in 2011. Since then, he had been the main referral doctor at the hospital till his demise.
