Authorities in Yei River County say the Coffee Farmers Association in the area has exported high quality coffee products to the international market in Geneva.

The Head of Farmers and the Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture in the County, Edimon Taban Gogo, told Eye Radio that 10.5 metric tonnes of coffee were sold in Geneva this month.

He says farmers earned 107,000 South Sudanese pounds from the export.

“We managed to send about ten point five metric tonnes to Geneva via Uganda and this has given good encouragement. …it gave them an amount of one hundred and seven thousand which has gone to the farmers themselves. I also encourage the farmers to continue processing coffee if they have access to those mills.” He said.

Gogo said a rise in coffee production has been recorded in the four payams of Yei River County this year.

This is the second coffee export t by farmers in Yei River County; the first such export was in May this year
