A primary school leadership supervision and inspection program has been launched in Juba.

More than 9,000 head teachers and 8,000 inspectors in the country are expected to benefit from the program.

It will be implemented in three phases over 9 months.

The program is aimed at training the participants on effective inspection and supervision skills in primary education activities across the country.

Save the Children launched the program on Wednesday.

“The future of any country depends on how we teach the future generation, children which includes: access to quality learning environment for all, but especially girls,” said Peter Walsh, Country Director.

Mr. Walsh called on the teachers to make use of the training.

For his part, the Director General for Quality, Assurance, and Standards at the Ministry of General Education, Omot Okony Olok, says the leadership, supervision and inspection program is part of capacity building for teachers.

Mr Omoto says this will enable teachers to implement the new education curriculum for South Sudan by 2018.

Meanwhile The Dean of College of Education at the University of Juba, Dr. Edward Momo, says once this training is implemented, it will improve the quality of education in the country.

He says the participants will be awarded certificates after completion of the program.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Windle Trust International, Yei Teacher training Institute and the University of Juba.
