Police authorities in Juba say the security situation is calm during the night and morning hours of the Christmas festival.

Faithful across South Sudan today have joined the rest of the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ known as Christmas.

It is an annual festival celebrated by millions of people around the world, on December 25th.

In South Sudan, churches have held special services, and people attend Mass and other religious gatherings to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Others have painted and decorated their homes, placing Christmas trees, as well as gathering with family and friends during and after this day.

Today is also considered a time for joy, peace, love, unity, and reconciliation, as well as a day for kindness in various cultural and religious ways across different regions and communities around the world, including South Sudan.

Speaking to Eye Radio this morning, Police Spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin says there were no security-related incidents reported.

“The security was still very calm, we have not registered any case I mean death case or something here in Juba, and the same in the states,” said a Police Spokesperson.

“Our forces are still on the ground making security coverage in the churches because this morning people will be going to churches for Christmas prayers so generally the security is calm.”
