Children at a faith-based orphanage center in Juba have received Christmas presents from a group of humanitarian aid workers and well-wishers.

The co-founder of Divine Mercy orphanage in Juba, Pastor Paulino Tipo has expressed gratitude to some humanitarian aid workers for donating food and on food items to the orphans.

Pastor Tipo says several aid workers visited the orphanage and donated maize flour, beans, sugar, water as well as soaps and playing attires to 74 orphans at the center.

A team from four organisations delivered a consignment of assorted foodstuff and other basic items to enable the vulnerable children to celebrate Christmas and the New Year’s festive season.

Pastor Tipo said the donation on the Christ Mass Eve came at a time when getting basic needs for the orphans was becoming very challenging.

“The children were one hundred in number but currently remaining seventy-four. Providing basic needs for these children is becoming very challenging in terms of food, paying school fees and psychological support all these need resources at hand,”  Pastor Tipo said.

Pastor Tipo appealed to well-wishers to share whatever little they have with the orphans.

“Jesus says, what you do to the least of these, you do me! Therefore, I’m appealing to people especially during these periods of Christmas, to give the little items you have to these children,” he said.

“Be it soaps, sugar or beans so that these children get some assistance. Today, we are very because aid workers visited us, and they managed to bring for us maize flour, sugar, water and playing attires for children.”
