The Political Parties Council (PPC) says it has successfully concluded a high-level induction workshop for newly recruited registration coordinators and inspectors ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The Council says the training aimed at strengthening its regulatory presence across all ten states and three administrative areas as South Sudan prepares for the December 22, 2026 polls.

According to the PPC, the program focused on enhancing institutional capacity to ensure a transparent, fair, and legally compliant political environment for all parties.

The training covered key areas including the implementation of the Political Parties Act, 2012 (as amended in 2022), operational chain of command, field verification procedures, and ethical standards for non-partisanship.

The Council said participants were trained on how to verify political party membership requirements, assess party office structures, and ensure compliance with legal provisions governing political organisations.

In a statement, the Chairperson of the Political Parties Council, James Akol Zakayo said the induction marks a key milestone in the country’s electoral preparations.

“Today marks a critical milestone in our electoral readiness. By deploying these trained Coordinators and Inspectors, the PPC is decentralizing its operations to every corner of South Sudan. These officers are the frontline custodians of electoral integrity. We expect them to execute their duties with absolute impartiality, professional excellence, and unwavering patriotism as we approach the December 22 ballot.”

The PPC called on state authorities, administrative leaders, and political actors to cooperate with the newly deployed officers as they begin their duties.

The Council also expressed appreciation to national and international partners supporting the electoral preparation process.
