Nadapal - Narus EES

Kapoeta East Commissioner in Eastern Equatoria State has refuted allegations of fighting between ethnic Turkana and Toposa youths at the Nadapal border area.

Video footage of burning houses circulated on social media on Monday alleged fighting at Nadapal between Turkana and Toposa Youths.

The clip also captured a man staring at the inferno from a distance as he walked away.

Commissioner Abdalla Angelo, however, said there was no fighting in the Nadapal area.

He added that it was youths from Kenya’s Turkana tribe who were having a honey feast, that left fire unquenched leading to the burning of houses in the area.

“The reports yesterday (Monday) in media are far away from truth,” Commissioner Abdala told Eye Radio on Tuesday.

“It was youths from Turkana who came to feast on honey in Nadapal. So, when they finished feasting the honey, they left the fire which later burned some old houses around there. This is what happened. There was not fighting or anything”.
