The family of two children abducted along the Lirya road in May says it is slowly losing hope as weeks pass without any information on the whereabouts of the missing minors.

Speaking to Eye Radio, the mother of Stella Dominic, 4, and Alfred Dominic, 2, expressed distress over the lack of updates from authorities, despite reports that search operations have been conducted in several areas.

She said the family continues to receive unverified information, leaving them in deep uncertainty and emotional pain.

“There’s no information we received, but last time I heard that they searched the side of Pibor and didn’t find them. But now a lot of people are saying they cannot enter Pibor with the kids, but there are areas around us here called Gumuruk and Kenet—maybe the kids are around there—but we haven’t received any information from anywhere,” Viola Osman said.

“I’m just here. When I ask people, they say Kenet or Gumuruk, but there is no communication again from the government side. I swear, for us this part feels like death for real. One has almost lost hope about the kids, thinking maybe we will not see them again.

“For me, I am completely broken. I only stay with tears in my eyes and prayers for the children to come back. But I don’t have anything in my hand to do. No one from the government side has come out to assure us—whether they did not find them in one place so we can search another, ” he added.

We are just staying hopeful and praying to God to connect us with our children.”

Viola appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the children and to keep the family informed of any developments in the investigation.

She said the continued silence and lack of updates has worsened the suffering of the family as they wait for news about the fate of the children.

Stella Dominic, 4, and Alfred Dominic, 2, were abducted at gunpoint on 20 May 2026 at around 6:00 PM. The incident occurred after armed men attacked and looted a vehicle traveling from Juba to Kapoeta along the Lirya road.

Authorities in Eastern Equatoria State and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area have previously stated that investigations and search operations are ongoing.
