President Salva Kiir has said the revitalized peace agreement is on track despite what he described as a ‘bumpy road’ on the implementation.

“The full implementation of this agreement can’t be done without having a sustainable dialogue among the parties in process of dialogue, we the parties to the agreement a time it has minor bump on the road,” President Kiir said.

“I would like our people to consider the recent SPLM-IO Political Bureau Resolutions that came out from its meeting. These kind of conflicting positions are expected in the implementation of complex agreement like ours.

“We ensure that no one panic from this and I am assuring you that the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement is on track.

“We all considered this agreement as the path to our stability and I am committed with our partners to implement it.”

President Kiir also clarified that the deployment of forces in the capital city, Juba over the weekend is a normal routine meant to prevent criminal activities.

On Sunday evening, security forces were deployed in some areas within the city including around the residence of the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar.

He says the deployment was to provide protection to Dr. Riek Machar.

In a separate development President Kiir, says his forces didn’t declare war against SPLM/A-IO.

Kiir said the statement by SSPDF spokesperson that the army has declared war on SPLM/A-IO was a personal statement and doesn’t represent the stance of SPLM-IG.

Kiir statement comes following renewed clashes between the SSPDF and SPLA-IO forces in Maiwut County, Upper Nile state.

The fighting raged after the SPLM-IO withdrew its participation from the security mechanisms and the peace monitoring body, R-JMEC.

The grouped claimed that the SSPDF attacked its bases in Unity and Upper Nile states, allegations the army refuted.
