The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has named countries that have waived visa fees for South Sudan nationals.

Deng Dau says East African countries like Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania are visa free for all South Sudanese.

He pointed out that 17 other African countries with diplomatic relations with South Sudan have also waived visa fee for diplomatic passports holders.

The deputy minister, however, revealed that 7 countries in the continent also allow official passport holders, as well as 5 other countries allow regular passport holders.

“The list of countries that waive visas for South Sudanese in Africa, we have about 15 countries in Africa. These are Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, Burundi, Botswana, Mozambique, Algeria, Tanzania, Benin, Gambia, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Senegal,” Dau said.

“If you have a diplomatic passport you can travel without any questions and any visa problems. You will be exempted from these countries if you travel on a diplomatic passport.

“If you have an official passport, there are 7 countries, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Botswana in Africa.”

Dau further says South Sudanese holding diplomatic passports can get a visa on arrival in one Asian country and in Europe only Turkey.

“In Asia, we only have a diplomatic passport with China and in Europe. Turkey is the only country where you can use a diplomatic passport in Europe where we have a diplomatic relation,” Deng Dau said.

“Most of the countries not mentioned you have to get your visa normally through electronic or through the embassy or through the neighboring countries.”
