President Salva Kiir has urged leaders in Central and Western Equatoria states to strengthen peace, security, and community cohesion as South Sudan prepares for national elections, according to the Office of the President.
The president made the remarks during separate meetings on Monday with Central Equatoria Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony and Western Equatoria Governor Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, who briefed him on the security situation and governance developments in their respective states.
In his meeting with Governor Adil, President Kiir directed the Central Equatoria State government and security organs to intensify efforts to maintain law and order and create a peaceful environment for the forthcoming elections.
The governor informed the president that preparations for the electoral process are progressing steadily across the state, with communities being mobilized and relevant institutions working to prepare citizens for participation in the polls.
President Kiir also encouraged residents of Central Equatoria to uphold peace and follow the electoral timetable once it is announced by the National Elections Commission.

Meanwhile, during a separate meeting with Governor Rimbasa, the president called for increased efforts to promote reconciliation and peaceful coexistence in Western Equatoria State.
According to the Office of the President, Kiir urged state authorities to strengthen peacebuilding initiatives and restore Western Equatoria’s reputation as one of South Sudan’s most peaceful regions.
Governor Rimbasa reported that security conditions have improved in parts of the state, including Tombura, Yambio, and Mundri counties, which had recently experienced instability.
The president’s messages in both meetings underscored the importance of peace, stability, and community unity as the country moves toward its anticipated electoral process.
