The Juba Local Football Association on Monday imposed a list of penalties on Simba Club including the suspension of four club members for a period of four years over riots that occurred during their semi-final match last month.

The semi-final match between Jamus FC and Simba on 31st October 2023 witnessed chaos after the crowd stormed the Buluk playground after the Buffalos won in a penalty shootout.

The chaos forced the match officials and referees to leave the field under tight security before they were put in a safe room until the angry fans left.

As a result, the Juba Local Football Association announced a number of harsh decisions on Monday, November 20, 2023, on the Simba team, which ruled that the team be relegated from the first division to the second division and deprived of participating in football activity this season.

According to the letter obtained by Eye Radio, the decisions of the Administrative Committee were based on Article 50, paragraphs 3, 9, 11 and 2 of the General Rules of the South Sudan Football Association 2012, amended 2019.

The penalties also included the suspension of four club members, including club president Mutuwalla Amum, from participating in football activities for a period of three years in accordance with Article 50, paragraph three of SSFA rules and regulations.

A fine of two million South Sudanese pounds was also imposed on Simba Club based on Article 50, paragraphs 2 of the General Rules of the South Sudan Football Association 2012, amended 2019

However, the same rules give the team a right to appeal against all these penalties

The Club official was not available for comment at the time.
