Juba Electric Distribution Company (JEDCO) has informed the city residents that it plans to implement limitation on power supply from 6 to 11 PM every day to cope with an overwhelming demand for electricity.

JEDCO said the current heat stress in Juba has increased demand for electricity to a point that has exceeded its generational capacity.

The electricity distributor said insufficient electricity generation at the main station has left it struggling to satisfy overwhelming electricity demand from Juba residential areas.

According to the company, the situation has resulted in frequent power interruptions over the past few days between 6pm to 11pm.

“We regret to inform you that due to the current Juba weather condition, the demand for electricity has exceeded our generation capacity,” JEDCO said in a press statement.

“In order to maintain the available load and prevent a complete blackout, we have no choice but to implement partial load shedding between 6pm to 11pm until the demand load is stable,” the company said.

JEDCO apologized for any inconvenience that the measure will cause to its customers and promises to address the issue.
