Government officials travel to Rumbek to investigate siezed weapons

High-profile government officials have flown to Rumbek, Lakes State to investigate the seizure of UN trucks carrying fire arms, blankets and other military items.

The Minister of the Interior, Aleu Ayieny, the Minister of Information, Michael Makuei and the Deputy Minister of Education, Bol Makueng are part of a group looking at the theft of guns, ammunition and vehicles belonging to UNMISS.

UNMISS spokesperson Ariane Quentier has confirmed that some trucks did belong to UNMISS but were wrongly labeled.
