Former Chief of the National Security External Bureau, Gen. Thomas Duoth, has called on comrades from the liberation era to strengthen bonds of solidarity by supporting the children of veterans, revealing that he has sponsored the education of 88 children of his colleagues.
Speaking during the funeral prayers for Gen. Nichola Dhoyier Dak in Juba, Gen. Duoth appealed for support for the families of veterans. He stated that the welfare of families of individuals who lost their lives during the war remains a responsibility for the collective.
Duoth disclosed that he has supported the education of 88 children of colleagues who died during the war. He described the initiative as part of the solidarity that united comrades, offering his actions as an example for leaders to follow.
“I took the son of Isaac to Egypt for studies,” General Duoth stated. “I supported about 88 children of late colleagues in education. If we all had this spirit, then this would be better. What did we do when we got the country? God continue to punish us until today, and we even forgot the spirit of solidarity with colleagues.”
The security chief noted that this spirit among colleagues has diminished over the years, despite the sacrifices made during the war.
Duoth urged citizens and officials to revive the culture of supporting one another, arguing that unity and assistance will help address challenges facing the country.
He stated that the families of martyrs should not be left behind after independence, calling on leaders and citizens to take up the responsibility of educating and providing for the children of their colleagues.
