Fire contained at Unity Oilfield following tanker explosions – Hon Nyakenya

Authorities in Unity State have confirmed that a fire broke out at the Unity Oilfield on Thursday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 9:00 AM, involved the explosion of two fuel tankers.

Unity State Minister of Information, Hon. Nyakenya Yohanis, confirmed the incident during a telephone interview with Eye Radio. She stated that the tankers belonged to a private businessman operating at the site.

Minister Nyakenya confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries resulting from the explosions. Emergency protocols were activated, and the fire was successfully contained shortly after it began.

“That is a fuel tanker belonging to a businessman, but we still don’t know the cause of the fire,” Nyakenya stated. “It happened this morning around nine o’clock. No injuries at all. It was actually put out… but they are still investigating the cause of it.”

While the immediate threat has been neutralized, the specific cause of the fire remains unknown. Minister Nyakenya noted that state authorities and safety officials at the oilfield have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the explosions.
