Author : | Published: Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Data released by the UN Mission in the country indicates that the number of civilians seeking protection at its bases across the country dropped by more than 8,000 between September and October.

The sites hosting civilians include the UN House in Jebel, Tongping, Bentiu, Malakal, Melut and Bor.

Updates on the Protection of Civilians’ Sites show a sharp increase of more than 14,000 in the number of arrivals between August and September.

The updates do not give reasons for the increase, but this was a period just after the July clashes in Juba.

By the end of September, the updates indicate that more than 210,000 civilians had sought refuge in the camps, while in October; the number reduced to about 200,000.
