The Mayor of Yei municipality in Central Equatoria State has ordered cattle keepers to leave the area within three days.

This comes after residents of Ronyi Quarter Council protested on Monday.

They say more than 100 cattle were moved from Maridi in Western Equatoria to the area last week.

Mayor Santo Lasuba says he was not aware of the presence of the herders.

“I’d like to call on my residents more not to cause any problem, these cattle are for business,” Mr Lasuba told Eye Radio.

“Let the owners take their cows without causing any public disorder in the town.”

Authorities in Western Equatoria had ordered cattle keepers to leave the state last month. Most of them moved to Yei River County.
