Boy found dead with testicles gouged, suspects in Aweil custody

Police in North Bhar el Gazal state have arrested two women in  Aweil East County for allegedly killing a 3-year-old boy by removing his testicles.

Captain Guot Guot Akol who is the State police spokesperson said the boy’s body was found dumped on Wednesday in a pool of water in Wanyjok town.

However, during a medical examination, it was discovered that the toddler’s testicles were gouged.

Captain Akol declined to mention the 30 and 34 year -old suspects’ names citing the suspects are still under investigation.

“We are now investigating two women in connection with what happened on Wednesday. For  security reason, I am not going to reveal their names.

“On Wednesday three-year-old boy was found drowned in a small pool, unfortunately during medical anatomy, we discover his private parts were removed from his body.

“So, we detained these two neighbors, women, to investigate the crime. This incident happened in Wanyjok Town of Aweil East County.”

The motive behind the crime is not yet clear.

Man arrested after killing clanmate for impregnating his sister

A man is being held in Lakes State’s Rumbek East police custody for shooting dead his clan-mate who was suspected to have impregnated his sister, according to the state spokesperson Major General Elijah Mabor Makuac.

The police officer narrated that two families clashed on August 2nd after a man allegedly impregnated a girl belonging to his section.

A brother of the girl allegedly shot the suspected man dead and wounded another before escaping from the scene.

Major General Elijah Mabor Makuac said the killer was arrested the following day.

“The suspect was arrested the following day, and he is currently in detention doing well. The case is proceeding well and the tension is down actually.”

General Mabor said the incident caused tension but the state government and area chiefs intervened to contain the situation.

“These people are from one section. So, the elders and chiefs plus the government intervened to calm down the situation.”

Major General Mabor is yet to disclose the murderer suspect’s identity.

Eight suspects arrested over attack on Torit aid workers

At least eight suspects have been arrested in Torit County of Eastern Equatoria State in connection with last week’s attack on  aid workers said to be staff of the World Food program.

Eastern Equatoria State Police Commission, Major General James Monday Enoka told Eye Radio, the suspects were arrested on Thursday.

“They were arrested the day before yesterday [July 27]  and were brought yesterday [July 28] in the evening to our custody here in Torit town,” he confirmed.

Last week, humanitarian vehicle belonging to the World Food Programme (WFP) was ambushed and shot at while conducting a nutrition assessment mission in Lopa-Lafon.

The unnamed driver and another staff were unhurt.

Major General James Monday Enoka, declined reveal the identity of the suspects, saying “What I can confirmed to you, eight suspects have been arrested, they’re under our custody and investigation will take place on Monday,

Enoka says this may jeopardize the investigation effort.

However, suspects are under investigation and they will face trial as soon as possible.

If [the investigation] is completed, they’ll be taken before the court of law and am expecting comprehensive report with the findings on Monday.

The police commissioner called on the general public to  cooperate with authority to combat the security threat.

In 2021, a World Food Programme (WFP) convoy was waylaid and the organization’s staff were robbed of their money and belongings by armed men in Lafon County of Eastern Equatoria State”

“Therefore, I am requesting the public to cooperate with the Police in arresting those wrongdoers.”

Man murdered, wife & children abducted in Jonglei-Police

A man has been killed, his wife and four children abducted by unknown armed men in Duk County of Jonglei state.

On the 21st of July of the year 2023 at twelve o’clock in Duk County in Jonglei state an unknown armed criminal group killed a 57-year-old man named Garkouth Yao and kidnapped five people a mother and her four children,” said the state Police Commissioner.

Major General Elia Cost told Eye Radio the victims were trekking to Fangak to receive humanitarian aid when they were abducted on Friday night.

“They were on the way going to Fangak County to receive humanitarian assistance. While they were on the way, the gunmen appeared to them and kidnapped the four children, two boys, two girls, and their mother.”

He says the armed men killed 57-year-old Gatkuoth Yao before abducting his wife, two sons, and two daughters.

General Costa says youth in the area have been pursuing the kidnappers but have so far not succeeded to recover the abductees.

“Some young men in the area organized themselves and pursued the kidnappers but until now, we have not received news from if they were able to recover the kidnapped or not.”

The motive of the attack is unclear.

But General Elia Cost said the state police are waiting for reports from the youth who are chasing after the captors.
