Akobo needs separate administration to improve security – Lul

Author : | Published: Tuesday, February 24, 2015

The chairman of South Sudan Resistance Movement, Lul Ruai Koang, says creating a new state in Akobo could improve security in Jonglei State.

He says Greater Akobo has enough population for a separate administration.

Mr Koang says the new administration would create its own police to prevent attacks on neighbors.

“We are seeing the dividends of having a separate administration from greater Pibor administrative area,” Mr Koang explained.

“Before their own administration, insecurity was everywhere. There were cases of insecurity reported everywhere in Central Equatoria, in Eastern Equatoria, in greater Bor that is Jonglei, in greater Lou Nuer.

“But after they were given their own administration, they found their own state police. All security operators at state level were given to them; the sense of ownership came in and they make sure that they cease insecurity with the neighbors.”

Mr Lul broke away from the SPLM in Opposition and came to Juba last week.

He formed his own movement to negotiate a separate state in Akobo, similar to the Greater Pibor Administration.
