The new chief administrator of Abyei has called for an end to inter-communal hostilities at the Warrap-Abyei border.

Dr. Chol Deng, who was appointed on January 9 as a replacement for Kuol Diem Kuol, made the remarks at his swearing-in ceremony in Juba.

He emphasized the need for the two communities to embrace peaceful dialogues and negotiations to find an amicable solution.

Speaking after taking an oath at the State House yesterday, Deng urges the Twic and the Ngok Dinka communities to stop fighting over land, saying border issues are the government’s responsibility.

“Border issues are government’s responsibility. I therefore urge both communities of Twic and Ngok Dinka to cease fighting each other,” Deng said.

On his part, Warrap State Governor Manhiem Bol Malek reaffirms his commitment to cooperate with the new Chief administrator to resolve and settle disputes between the two communities.

The inauguration was presided upon by President Salva Kiir and other top officials.

The president urged the new chief Administrator to cooperate with the Warrap State governor to restore peace and harmony between the neighboring communities.
