The national government has received two tons of assorted medical supplies donated by the Egyptian government.
The consignment including medicines for asthma, anemia, and waterborne is targeting affected people in Jonglei State.
According to the Egyptian Ambassador in Juba, Moatez Mostafa Abdelkader, they are expecting more items for other states soon.
“Egypt donated a shipment of medicines, about two tons, to deal with the floods and the humanitarian situation in Jonglei state,” Ambassador Abdelkader told Eye Radio via phone in Juba on Thursday.
“This shipment includes medicines to treat anemia and diseases transmitted through water and asthma, as well as intravenous solutions, injections, and other things. this is not the last shipment,
“We have requested tents and equipment to deal with the floods the aid will not be limited to Jonglei, but will extend to other states, and we are waiting for your assistance very soon:”
Upon the reception on Wednesday [January 18, 2023], the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deng Dau Deng, acknowledged the Egyptian for responding on time.
“This is one important response to the government of Jonglei. We are very much aware that the flood affected seven states in the country,” said Deng Dau.
“I would like to thank the government of Egypt for responding on time, particularly in this recent flood in the Upper Nile, Unity, and Jonglei states.”
In November 2021, the government of Egypt donated three ambulances equipped with medical items to the South Sudan health sector.
