Uror County in Jonglei state

At least 21 people have been killed in two separate cattle-related attacks in Uror County of Jonglei State early this week.

This is according to the Spokesperson of the Jonglei State Legislative Assembly.

Wang Bum told Eye Radio that the first attack occurred on Monday in a swampy area at Pathai Payam resulting in the killing of 19 people, mostly youth.

The second attack happened on Tuesday in which three people were killed, 2 injured and five went missing.

“The attack occurred in the bushes, and those who went missing we don’t know whether they were abducted, or they are in the bushes,” says Bum.

Hon. Bum says the attackers are suspected cattle raiders from the neighboring Pibor Administrative Area.

According to him, more than 2,000 head of cattle were raided in during the incidents.

Authorities of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area are yet to comment on the matter.

However, Bum says youth from Uror County are yet pursuing the attackers to recover the looted cattle.

“Luo Nuer youth from Walgak in Akobo west and some part of Yol, plus those in Uror mobilized themselves Tuesday evening and they are still pursuing the Murle youth,

“I do not know whether they recovered the cattle or the Murle went with the cattle,” he said
