The Commissioner of Melut County, Upper Nile State has raised concerns over unpaid financial entitlements, fuel allocations, and security challenges with Dar Petroleum Operations Company during a meeting held at the company’s oil fields in Palouch.

Commissioner Dok Ding Bor said the issues affect the county administration, traditional leadership, and host communities in the oil-producing areas.

“We discussed pending financial entitlements owed to the traditional administration, the county’s fuel allocation, and reported cases of theft and insecurity within the oil fields,” Commissioner Dok told reporters.

He added that the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the County Administration, traditional leaders, and the oil company.

“We also addressed the provision of security services for foot patrols in the oil fields, as well as the company’s potential support for local schools and the ongoing agricultural season,” he said.

Commissioner Dok emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to ensure oil production benefits local communities and contributes to development and stability.

In response, the Chairman of Dar Petroleum Operations Company, Link Songfar, acknowledged the concerns and promised to give them due consideration. “We remain committed to supporting peace, stability, and development in oil-producing areas,” he said.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to coordinate between local authorities and oil companies to address community needs and security challenges in Melut County.
