The deputy Governor of Lakes State says at least 30 people have been killed in a inter-clan fighting in Rumbek East County.

Santo Domich told Eye Radio that two different incidents occurred on saturday, which resulted into the killing of thirty-two people.

The cause of the fighting is still unclear.

“The first incident was actually in Pannyar and Nyuai,” explained Mr Domich.

“Panyar has seven people killed in action and Nyuai lost nine people; they have all lost sixteen people yesterday [Saturday].

“On the other hand, Dour-Baar lost nine and Dour-Chek lost four people. And then there was another sub- clan, which has some members who were camping up with the Dour Baar or Dour Check, they lost three people.

“So, the total loses are actually 32.”

Mr Domich said many people have been wounded, but there is no clear report about them because some people are still missing.

He said the government has deployed forces to the area in order to help contain the situation.

Last month more than sixty people died in similar inter-communal clashes in Lakes State.
