South African President, Jacob Zuma, will visit Juba soon to “show solidarity” with the people of South Sudan in the implementation of the peace agreement, the Minister of Petroleum has said.

Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth made the announcement on arrival at Juba airport on Thursday evening.

Mr Lol was part of a team led by the First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai, who visited South Africa this week to discuss bilateral issues between the two countries.

He said Mr Taban met his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, to deliver an invitation from President Salva Kiir to Jacob Zuma.

“The invitation has been accepted,” Mr Lol said. “President Zuma will be visiting South Sudan soon to show solidarity with the people of South Sudan and also the implementation of the agreement and all the bilateral issues.”

On bilateral issues, Mr Lol says South Africa has been training South Sudanese on state and national administration and project implementation.

He said South Africa still wants to continue with these trainings as part of its support to South Sudan.
