There is only one senior secondary school in the whole of Buma State due to lack of qualified teachers, Governor Baba Medan has said.

The national Ministry of Education previously confirmed reports that some teachers were living the profession across the country due to low pay.

“The state is mobilizing organizations which are helping education sector to build more schools,” Mr Medan said during a meeting of the Council of States on Thursday.

Mr Medan says the government will put an appropriate budget for the ministry of education this year.

“For us as a government, the new budget will include establishment of new schools at state level.”

It is not clear how many students are in Buma or how many have been affected by lack of a school in their county.
