The Acting Governor of Gbudwe State is calling on the World Food Program to provide assistance to more than 9,000 Internally Displaced Persons in Yambio County.

The IDPs had fled Lirangu, where there have been reports of attacks by an armed group of youth.
Jackson Ezekiel Bugwa says there is food available in the WFP stores in Yambio, which he says should be, distributed the vulnerable people.

“People are suffering, people are dying, children are suffering under trees and we have food which is supposed to be given to these poor communities, it is not there making to leave their houses…,” he said.

“But within 7 days, if this food is not released, then we will come and decide as a government.”
Mr. Bugwa said the thousands of people in Ezo County are also in need of humanitarian aid.

The WFP could not be immediately reached for comment, but the agency earlier said it has limited supply of food, following extensive looting at its main warehouse in Juba following recent clashes in the capital.
