Unity State Governor Joseph Manytuil Wejang called on the Sudd Petroleum Operating Company to fulfill its corporate social responsibility obligations, saying his administration will not compromise on the demands of local communities, particularly in areas of primary education, clean drinking water, healthcare, and road connectivity.

According to a statement on the official page “SPOC Management Briefs Governor Dr. Joseph Manytuil on the Company’s Operations in Block 5A Tharjiath – Unity State. on Monday”

During the meeting, the company outlined key operational challenges, including vandalism, illegal taxation, checkpoints along the river, and an increase in the number of Unity State students under SPOC sponsorship, which has exceeded the budget ceiling.

Governor Manytuil called for an increase in funding for the company’s Community Development and Corporate Affairs Department to improve services to local communities.

He also encouraged stronger cooperation between the state government and joint operating companies, and outlined plans to construct the Mayendit–Madol road linking Unity State to Juba via Maper in Lakes State.
