Warrap probes killing of Abyei deputy chief administrator

Warrap State government has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the killing of Abyei Deputy Chief Administrator Noon Deng Nyok in an ambush on December 31, 2023.

Warrap Governor Kuol Muor Muor formed the team of inquiry that will have seven days to submit its report and recommendation to his office.

The five-member committee is headed by the state Legal Adviser and deputized by the State Public Attorney General.

It also comprises a public prosecutor, members of the security organ including the National Security and Criminal Investigation Department.

William Wol Mayom, the state minister of information spoke to Eye Radio this morning.

“Koul Mor Mor has formed the committee that will probe the allegation and they are given seven days to investigate the incident, the committee comprise of 5 members headed by the state legal advisor,” he said.

Authorities in Abyei said the region’s second most senior official and five others including two of his bodyguards were killed by armed men in Rummamer County.

Abyei Information Minister Bolis Kuoch said late General Deng was on his way to attend New Year Prayers in Jouljok Parish when he was ambushed by suspected Twic armed youth.
