War veteran Gen John Kong Nyuon was a dedicated leader – Dr. Majak

The former deputy minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Dr. Majak D’Agoot has described the late John Kong Nyuon as a leader who committed himself to South Sudanese unity.

According to a family source who spoke to Eye Radio on condition of anonymity, the SPLA war veteran John Kong Nyuon passed away on Tuesday 27th December 2022 in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

The former minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs died while receiving treatment in Kenya after battling a long illness.

General Kong has served as Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs.

He was also the Governor of Jonglei State during the 10 States and Governor of Fangak State during the 32 States.

He died as a member of the SPLM’s Political Bureau.

Gen. John Kong did not only serve as a member of the SPLM’s Political Bureau but also served in many capacities including but not limited to deputy Zonal Commander in Equatotaria Zonal Command stretching from Kapoeta in Eastern Equatoria State to Khor Bou in Western Equatoria State.

The former deputy minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Dr. Majak says in a tweet that the late Kong support for the unity of South Sudanese was unshaken.

“I stand up in attention to salute your glorious deeds and your unwavering commitment to our unity,” tweeted Dr. D’Agoot.
